The Cottage is located on Lake Michigan halfway between Holland and Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan.

Saugatuck/Douglas is known as the center of the "Art Coast of Michigan" and the closest thing to Provincetown in the midwest. It has had a reputation of open mindedness since it was founded around the same time that the cottage was built.  It has many fine restaurants and shops, an equity summer stock theater, a gay resort, several breweries, and a winery near by.  It is on the Kalamazoo Lake waterfront with a marina full of yachts, fishing boats available for deep lake fishing charter, motor boats for rent, and much more.

Holland is of Dutch heritage.  Its downtown has been beautifully preserved and vitalized with a fine collection of shops and restaurants of all types, along with a number of breweries and distilleries. Windmill Island has a real working Dutch windmill that is the centerpoint of the Tulip Festival in mid-May. You can rent a Seadoo and ride it to the cottage beach in the summer months.

There's something for everyone.
